Leadership

Peter Macfarlane

Peter Macfarlane

Music Director

Since 2020

Peter Macfarlane has led the Vermont Fiddle Orchestra since 2020. He brings deep roots in Scottish traditional music developed through decades of playing with bands across England and Europe, and teaches at workshops including Pinewoods Camp in Massachusetts. He moved to Vermont in 2003 to pursue full-time musicianship and founded the Champlain Valley Scottish Fiddle Club in 2010. Alongside fiddle, Peter plays low whistle, mandolin, and Québecois percussion.

When he's not making music, Peter builds cedar-strip canoes and paddles long distances.
