Featured Concert · Winter 2026
The Vermont Fiddle Orchestra is extremely excited to host master accordionist Jeremiah McLane at its November 29th concert at the Chandler Center for the Arts. McLane will lead the orchestra in two sets and will also play two sets on his own. A longtime fixture in New England traditional music circles, McLane also has deep roots in the music of France, which he'll be showcasing in this concert.
Starting in the early 1990s, McLane has formed a multitude of performing bands and ensembles that have had a strongly positive influence on the musical IQ of Vermont and the Northeast. He currently performs with Kalos, Triton, Cassotto Duo, and Tapestry.
McLane also generously shares his deep knowledge with students in a variety of settings throughout the area and beyond. He has served on the faculty of the State University of New York in Plattsburgh, NY and the Summit School of Traditional Music in Montpelier, VT. He is founder and director of the Floating Bridge Music Camp and currently teaches at the Upper Valley Music Center in Lebanon, NH. He has taught at summer music programs throughout the United States, including Ashokan, Centrum's American Festival of Fiddle Tunes, Swannanoa, Acadia Trad Camp, Northeast Heritage Music Camp, Maine Fiddle Camp, Lark in the Morning, Pinewoods, and the John C. Campbell Folk School, among others.
In addition to the tunes played with McLane, the VFO will perform traditional tunes from the British Isles, particularly Scotland, as well as from Québec, Sweden, Asturias, and Appalachia, and a tune composed by orchestra member Kenric Kite. Music Director Peter Macfarlane will lead the orchestra, and Assistant Music Director Susan Reid will also perform. The performance is at the Chandler Center for the Arts on November 29th at 4:00 PM. Admission is by donation.
